Studying in school

Here, I present to you the top number 1 reason why I should never study in school.

I studied at home for 1 hour, and completed ionic equilibrium (1).

I went to school, stayed there for around 7 hours, and just could not not finish ionic equlibrium (2).

My friend said, "Wah.. this proves ionic equilbrium 2 is much harder than 1."

I'm sure.

Here's what I did today in school today:
1600 hrs: I tried to study (with my kayak fren yong bin)

1615 hrs: Barely 5 mins on my notes, we were already talking crap. I was commenting how our studying position was. (Our tables were directly in front of the back wall, so we were studying with a wall in our face) He reasoned that it'll keep us away from distractions

1630 hrs: Our necks were already aching from the fact that we turned our heads to the side everytime someone walked past.

1645 hrs: Gave up. Decided we had to go 7 - 11 to get some snacks.

1700 hrs: After getting conned into buying an extremely tough curry puff, we went back to school. But we played basketball.

1845 hrs: Almost 2 hours wasted. With our last match over.. we decided to go back to studying

1850 hrs: Oh no not without some pull ups 1st, after learning that some MJ kayaker from VS last time easily did 50 pull ups at one go, we decided that we should do 50 too.

1920 hrs: But of course, in 4 sets

1930 hrs: Ahh.. childish ways again. Yong bin purposely did 2 more than me, to match him, i did another 2 more than him.. and it went on....

1840 hrs: We realised that we would nver get back to studying if we continued.

1845 hrs: Back at T11. Changed into a fresh shirt, but my shorts were still quite wet.

1900 hrs: Couldn't take it anymore. Decided I had to go home and bathe.

1910 hrs: Since I was going home to bathe, and we were both hungry, why not i go bathe while he go buy some food back.

1915 hrs: Climbed over the side gate, I on my way home, yong bin on his way to parkway, when he decided he was too lazy. Idea: Lets order Pizza!

1920 hrs: 62353535! Oops, we did not know the exact address of VJC. Had to wait for them to check and call back

1930 hrs: I went home for a nice bath

Fastforward.

2100 hrs: Finished pizza. Went to sit on the swing to digest food.

2130 hrs: Left the swing after it threatened to collapse after we swung too hard on it. Back to T11.

2140 hrs: Tried to go back to study. Before long we were talking about kayaking again. How impossible it is to win..

2240hrs: Oh shit! its 10.40 alrdy! We better go home! laments about how we wasted our day.

2245 hrs: We were nearing the main gate, when I finally persuaded him to climb the side gate instead. (Coz nearer to my house mah, don't need to make 1 whole big round)

Heres the most interesting part of the day:

2250 hrs: Climbed the gate. Noticed there were 2 guys in a car staring at us climbing the gate.

Continued to climb.. Then I found it weird. They purposely stopped their car and looked at us intently. I thought they were some teachers or what. Yong bin thought they were 2 fascinated civilians who never saw people climb school gate before (that guy -_-"). As they were watching us, I had to make sure my climb was nice, agile and perfectly executed. As I completed my 'climb', the driver gestured at me to come over.

I thought they were teachers at 1st. But didn't recognize them. Anyway, here's how it went,

"Hey! What are you all doing? Why I you climbing over the gate?"

Oh, over-concerned Singaporeans, I reckoned. I explained that we were students and were studying.

"Do you all have any identifcation, school pass or anything to prove you all are from this school?"

Hmm.. it sounded to sound like he was from the...

Ididn't have to confirm, he flashed his police ID to us. I think its the CID one we only get to see on TV.

I struggled to find my ez-link card, only to realize that it doesn't show our school. (Really, they should start thinking about giving us school passes to avoid this kind of ugly situations.) I found that we really didn't have anything to PROVE we are from VJ.

Yong bin asked, "Err.. I wearing VJ shirt.. " ( i wasn't wearing vj shirt)

"No! Not counted!"

Next best alternative: I took out my notes.

The guy in the passenger seat took it and gave only a glance. I guess he didn't really wanted to be reminded about dreadful A-level stuff. Anyway, it was the driver who was the more 'enthusiastic' one, "Why are you all climbing over the gate now? You know, it gives people the impression that you're doing something illegal in the school... blah blah blah..."

Then of course, we explained. Gate closed.. students studying.. see the lights still on, we're just innocent students who are trappedin the relentless Singapore education system. Having to stay back soo late to study where even working people like them have knocked offlong ago. (ok we didn't say it like that, but well, this is the truth!)

"Sure you all from this school ar? So going home now ar."

And as obedient little boys we are, we said yes. And they drove off. I guessed, if they still didn't believe we were from vj, we'd have to show them a cheer.

"I've got the VJ SPIRIT. Where? ALL OVER ME!"

Maybe that would have done the trick.

After climbing the side gate 1001 times, this's the 1st time I met the police. It makes me wonder, when the cars go by and see me climbing the gate, do they think I'm a trespasser too? After all, the side gate is in full view of all cars and pedastrians passing by, unlike the main gate. And hardly anybody climbs the side gate. Makes me think about what Liang Hong mentioned to me before, "You stay so near alrdy! Still want to climb side gate!"

Maybe next time when I want to climb the gate again, I will be more cautious, careful to look for a plain coloured, old-toyota cars which you ever so often see on TV.

Maybe next time, I'll do a VJ cheer the true Victorian way, before I embark on the gate.

Maybe next time, I'll just use the main gate la huh.

When studying in school, it is just not productive. But studying at home, I will always find myself doing something else. Help me. I need some self-discipline. But I guess, at this period of time, seeing other people studying hard will help. After a while, I'll start to feel anxious and start studying proper.
